Hola Amigos!
Today, I got messages from Hjeron, Sabina and Aurora Matahari... all saying they are committed to Casa de Mis Amigos this winter.
We are now forming a circle of participants who will create this collective effort through dreaming together in a Google group: groups.google.ca/group/casa-amigos
A vision I've held since the age of ten is to create a school that feels like summer camp. After going to Rainbow Gatherings across the US, I understood that sitting in circle is a key organizing method for egalitarian communities, and that tool is vital for building the school.
Ten years ago, a Rainbow elder met at Trini's house on Stone Island said, "Whatever you create... you need to include the elders for their wisdom, the men and women to do the work, and the children to teach."
The vision is now twenty years in the making, and this winter it looks like a circus theater training camp at Casa de Mis Amigos, and we have an amazing cast of stars.
Where we go from here is up you, if you choose to take part. It is no longer my dream. I have gone on a vision quest and a journey seeking my tribe, and now it is time hand over the dream to the community.
There is plenty opportunity to live abundant and sustainable lives doing what we love to do-- teaching and creating art -- growing and building-- we just need to be organized. Casa de Mis Amigos can be a launch point for many careers and relationships.
People are looking for something other than the system most of us live in-- something deeper and more meaningful. We can live in service to each other, connected to nature and free from the clock/ calender.
Homeschool families are seeking knowledge outside their sphere of experience. Baby Boomers are seeking ways to share their wealth and knowledge. Talented people like us are seeking a way to spend winter in paradise instead of working 9 to5 in the freezing north. Put us all together and we will create a scene that will be powerfully life changing.
The focus of the vision is to create an egalitarian school centered on the circle. Each morning, sit in a circle after yoga and food. We talk about what we are going to do that day-- what we need, and what we plan to teach/ learn. At the end of the day, we sit in a circle to talk about what we learned, what we'd like to know, and what we'd like to do the next day, or for the next part of our life. And that's how we'll create collective consciousness and build common-unity.
This is not busy-ness. It is a movement toward the lifestyle we want for ourselves and others.
